Hockey Inner City

Hockey Inner City is excited and proud to announce its collaboration and sponsorship with Grays, a brand that is not only globally recognised, but also a hugely respected provider of hockey equipment to hockey players worldwide. This was incredibly important to us as we not only wanted to be partnered with a very successful hockey brand, but more importantly a brand that had a similar ethos and outlook to us.

HIC is committed to bringing hockey into children's lives who live in inner cities and whose schools are not able to provide hockey training, thus encouraging the participation in a sport that they do not normally have the opportunity to play (hockey in inner city areas is often not taught). The social values embedded within the coaching such as "consistency is key", "race yourself", "respect each other" and "express yourself" are designed to help children be the best versions of themselves and promote good mental health. HIC believes that there is a lot of talent in the inner city areas that hockey as a sport misses out on and we are here to help change that!

By working with Grays we are able to have a sustainable hockey programme with the schools that we work with, enabling them to keep their hockey programme going after our HIC coached ten week session has finished. With Grays’ support and generosity, the coaching equipment, sticks, balls and kit enables the schools to carry on and encourage the children to continue training in a sport that they have grown to love.

The objectives that we have for our projects is to reach out to and coach at as many inner city schools and as many children as possible, also educating and inspiring children and parents about the opportunities that hockey can give to them via educational workshops, festivals and field trips. We also feel very passionately about creating relationships and links with local Hockey Clubs to allow talented children from our schools to join and pursue their love of hockey via their local club.
