South Africa Qualify for Tokyo 2020

#TeamGrays partners South Africa Hockey have qualified to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in both Men's and Women's. The men’s goalie Rassie Pieterse (below) was honoured for playing his 150th international game.
Both the men and women won the African Hockey Road to Tokyo titles at the tournament: the men’s 3-2 defeat of Egypt in the final secured them the African Hockey spot at the Tokyo Olympics, while the women secured the title with a 6-0 win over Ghana in the final on August 18th.
Six African hockey nations competed to become African champions, which ensured that they would represent the continent in one of the 12 hockey spots available for the Tokyo Olympic Games next year. Nigeria and Uganda had to withdraw, but the formidable team from Egypt was added in the men’s competition. The women’s title was contested between five teams. The tournament was decided on a round robin basis – and both South African teams got full marks by winning all their matches.
