Now in the second year of their partnership with Grays Hockey, Wimbledon Hockey Club players and Inject Hockey founders Alex Sheldon and Louis Tipper reflect on competing in EHL Round 1, growing their community to 60,000 followers, and the Grays hockey equipment behind their 2026/27 season.
From representing English hockey on the European stage to targeting the league title, it’s been a busy start to the season for the pair. We caught up with them to talk European hockey, content creation, kit and their goals for the year ahead.
1. Wimbledon Hockey Club in Euro Hockey League Round 1
Wimbledon recently competed in EHL Round 1 in Eindhoven. A 3-3 draw with Real Club de Polo and a 5-3 defeat to hosts HC Oranje-Rood meant they missed out, though the side delivered strong performances against two of Europe’s leading clubs.
"Getting to play in the EHL is a huge honour. Being able to represent not only Wimbledon but English hockey on the European stage is something we'll both remember forever. We were also lucky enough to have our family and friends there supporting us, which made the experience even more special.
Playing against teams from different countries exposes you to different styles of play, tactics and team cultures. That experience is invaluable when returning to the English league, where being adaptable and finding ways to win against different opposition is so important."
2. Growing Inject Hockey: 60,000 Followers on Instagram and TikTok
Through Inject Hockey's Instagram and TikTok channels, Alex and Louis share matchday and behind-the-scenes coverage from the top of English hockey.
"Our community has continued to grow over the past six months, and we're now reaching around 60,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok.
This season, our biggest focus is bringing as many eyes to English hockey as possible, as we genuinely believe the sport doesn't get the attention it deserves. We're doing that through more comprehensive matchday coverage, behind-the-scenes content and regular updates from across the league.
Ultimately, we want to make hockey more accessible, entertaining and engaging for both existing fans and people discovering the sport for the first time."
3. Wimbledon Hockey Club’s 2026/27 Premier Division Ambitions
After reaching the final at England Hockey Finals Weekend last season, Wimbledon have begun the 2026/27 campaign in good form, with new additions strengthening the squad.
"We've started the season really strongly, which has been a huge positive. The new players coming into the team have strengthened the squad and brought even more competition to an already young and developing group. There's a real sense of excitement around the squad, and our ambition is clear: to go one better and win the league."
4. Grays Hockey Sticks and Shoes: The JB8 and Raid 3.0
Both Alex and Louis are using Grays sticks and shoes for the 2026/27 season.
"We're both wearing the Raid 3.0 this season, which have been fantastic so far. They feel great on the pitch and definitely look the part, particularly when we're playing in our all-white Wimbledon kit.
We're also both using the JB8 stick again this year. It's a really well-balanced stick that offers a great combination of attacking and defensive performance. We both like something versatile and reliable, and the JB8 gives us exactly that. It served us really well last season, so we were both keen to stick with it."
5. Grays 2026/27 Range Review
The Grays 2026/27 range brings the new Raid 3.0 shoe alongside returning favourites such as the JB8.
"The Raid 3.0s were a huge upgrade from the 2.0s for me, both in terms of looks and performance. They feel noticeably lighter and more agile while still offering the stability and support you'd expect from a heavier shoe.
I'm someone who likes consistency, so I was really pleased to see the JB8 continue in the new range. That said, when I tested the JB12+, I was surprised by just how much power you could generate, particularly on the forehand — which definitely isn't my strongest area!"
6. What’s Next for Inject Hockey and Grays: The Road to 100K
With a year of partnership behind them, Inject Hockey are looking to build further with Grays.
"We've grown so much during our partnership with Grays, and we're really excited to keep building on that momentum.
Our first year was about experimenting, understanding what resonates with our audience and finding our identity as creators. Now that we have a much clearer idea of what works, we're doubling down on our best-performing content and looking at new ways to bring hockey to a wider audience.
Our big ambition is to reach 100,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok before the season ends. We'd love to achieve that alongside Grays, continuing to grow the brand's visibility while inspiring more people to get involved in hockey."
