For decades, here at Grays Hockey we have made it our priority to continue setting the benchmark in performance and innovation. Along that journey we have introduced several iconic creations, with one a true staple within our Grays Hockey Stick Range – the Jumbow.

In this blog, we are going to explore just why the Jumbow Collection has remained a firm favourite for a large majority of our international, elite-level and competitive club players – all in which play a variety of positions that boast uniquely different skillsets. Let’s get into it.

1. Why Choose The Grays Hockey Jumbow

The Grays Hockey Jumbow Collection has been strategically engineered for players that are looking to execute and master advanced skills and plays within the game. Offering players a traditional low-bow profile with an intricately measured curve of 24.75mm at 200mm from the head, this provides us with a perfect blend between control and complex skill execution. Here’s a few key reasons that elevates the Jumbow’s position as one of the market’s top leading sticks: -

  • Optimised for Drag-Flicking: An expert low-bow profile designed to empower our players with the leverage and control needed to generate speed, power, and accuracy in drag-flicks – one of hockey’s most powerful and desirable skills to master.
  • Exceptional Distribution and Control: Whether you’re throwing a 75-yard aerial, threading a ball between two centre backs with a single slap pass, or executing a close one-two with a teammate, the Jumbow enhances players’ ability to distribute with the control and accuracy needed. The Maxi head offers a wider receiving area and optimal surface contact for close ball control in tight spaces under pressure.
  • Breathtaking Power: Arguably the Jumbow’s most prominent feature is the ability to deliver explosive hitting power whilst maintaining a supreme touch. Ideal for attackers looking to leave the goalkeeper startled, or defenders that need to trust that a last-ditch clearance can carry the team up the pitch.
  • 3D Skill: With its low-bow design, the stick enables players to perform advance skills such as aerials and 3D trickery, allowing you to outmanoeuvre opponents with modern, dynamic skills.

2. The JB10: Jumbow’s Most Powerful Hockey Stick

For the players here that have trusted the performance of the classic GR10000 Jumbow (most recently in blue and mint), which as we all know, was a clear staple across all levels of the game, take note of the Grays Hockey JB10 – fresh from the 25/26 Jumbow Collection. As the flagship of the JB range, the JB10 combines elite power and durability. Here’s a few standout features of the JB10: -

  • Highest Power Rating: The JB10 material composition delivers the highest and most explosive amount of hitting power when executed. A striker's dream, and a goalkeeper's worst nightmare – we all once dreamt to ‘break the backboard’ with a single shot, well this stick is your best shot at it!
  • Graphene-Infused Material Matrix: Our unique composition that makes up the JB10 delivers a highly desired stiffness, durability, and shock absorption in equal measure that allows players to focus on their game with full trust in the stick’s ability to deliver when called upon.
  • Jumbow Profile + Maxi Head: Engineered and crafted to optimise drag-flicking, aerials, advanced distribution and exceptional control.
  • Modern Revamp: Unveiling a new aesthetic for the 25/26 season, the JB10 is designed with exposed carbon fabric, premium foils, and 3D textured finishes that provide both grip and standout visual appeal - certain to turn heads.

3. Grays Hockey Jumbow Heritage: A Stick With A Rich Legacy

The reputation of the esteemed Jumbow has been forged not just through its eye-catching designs, but in the hands of some of the world's greatest players to have graced the sport of hockey. Over the generations, the Jumbow has played its part at the very highest level, as players put their trust in the stick throughout Olympic victories, World Cup triumphs and record-breaking performances. Here’s a few notable mentions over the last 25 years: -

Ashley Jackson, England and Great Britain: A player of rare imagination and skill, Ashley Jackson lived out his prime years with a Grays Hockey Jumbow in hand. England and GB’s leading goal scorer (an impressive 137), Jackson lifted the 2009 European Championship title, claimed the 2009 FIH Young World Player of the Year, and even had his own AJ Jumbow Limited Edition stick created by Grays Hockey. Known worldwide as one of the most feared and technically gifted drag-flickers, his attacking ability and prowess has him celebrated today as a ‘streets won’t forget’ type figure.

Mark Knowles, Australia Captain: A stalwart full-back in the heart of the Australian defence  and their global dominance in the 2000s and 2010s, Knowles trusted the Jumbow as he collected Olympic gold in Athens 2004, World Cup titles in 2010 and 2014, and was crowned FIH World Player of the Year in 2014. A natural leader, Knowles’ career highlighted the Jumbow’s adaptability from defence through to attack.

Helen Richardson-Walsh, England and Great Britain: The dynamic midfielder stands as one of the sport’s most iconic figures and a proud Grays Hockey ambassador. A 2016 Olympic gold medalist with Great Britain and 2015 European Champion with England, Helen showcased the tremendous capabilities of the Jumbow during her midfield dominance.
